are looking good for president obama. we'll bring you all of the latest from the buckeye state next. stay with us. >>> coming up, michelle obama heads to cincinnati as early voting begins in ohio. her message next. >>> in the big finish, more republicans block the vote efforts are uncovered here in colorado. we'll have the details and i'll talk with the chairman of the democratic party. stay tuned. we're right back. >>> we are back. early voting kicked off in the battleground state of ohio today. and as you can tell those folks are fired up voters. the buckeye state looking good. but attempts to kill off early voting by republicans have failed. obama supporters camped out at polling stations around ohio last night as part of the sleep out the vote effort. polls officially opened at 8:00 a.m. this morning and thousands of voters have already cast their ballots. this is good news for president obama as early voters favor democrats. first day voter turnover in lucas county doubled that in 2008. of the 928 voters, there were 696 democrats, 40 republicans, 192 with no affiliation. michelle oba

they call the 3 ds. dissatisfied, disappointed and disenchanted obama voters. it's about convincing them that over the next four years, you will do a better job to improve their lives. what they're looking for is those, that narrower and narrower slice of swing voters. i mean, he's got a double job to do. >> he had a convention speech and he wasn't able to do it. >> that's why he's got to do it tonight. so but he's got a double job. he's got to talk to those swing voters who are disaffected about president obama, but then make sure his base turns out and he's got to get the base enthusiastic. now, what the base wants and those swing voters want maybe two different things. >> but how many people are still undecided? >> this many. >> but there are still people who are persuadable. >> have debates really persuaded them. >> john kerry, going into that first debate, was seven points behind. after that first debate, he was only two points behind. now, we know he ended up losing because president bush came back and did a better job in the second debate. but it did narrow the gap for john kerry.

that will shave some $4 trillion off of spending over the next decade. now, whether that comes up in the debate hall tonight, we know that mitt romneyments to pound this. we know that president obama, so far, tried to avoid specifics on this. this is typically the phenomena of the guy who leads in the polls. he doesn't want to run out the clock, but he doesn't want to do anything to jeopardize shaking that clock. whether it comes to issues like the end of the year phenomena when this all happens at the same time, who knows, but it could come up, the idea whether they table all the rates, table all the cuts for another three or six months. for those of you tuning in, we're at the university of denver, the site of this year's first presidential debate. this is what they call the spin room. i know my first thought, i thought it was a pbs pledge-a-thons because it looks like that. i don't know if they are giving away tote bags, but they are all reporters. there are hundreds of them. there's the spin aloe, just to the right, and so what's going to happen after the debate is that all the romney and o
